156 Sikura keyfob central locking problems

My car has been sitting for a while and the battery has run down.

When i try and open the lock with my keyfob i get a few beeps but then nothing happens.

Obviously I need to get into the car pop the bonnet to get the battery charged.. Should i just open the door manually? will the alarm sound?

Also..maybe connected.. I had a look inside the Sikura branded keyfob (my only one) and the microswitch soldering is loose. could this be part of the problem also? The light on the keyfob still comes on when i press it, so the car is picking up some sort of signal..

thanks for any help.

Open the doors manually...the alarm will sound (well, you are legitimately opening your own car after all ), but you'll be able to get a charger onto the battery or jump another one (observing the correct polarity!).

If it's the fob, you can open it up and jump the sides of the microswitch with something metal like a pair of tweezers or (the old favourite) an unwound paper clip.

I've got spare switches for the red key fobs if you need one... They're easy enough to change if you have a soldering iron/steady hands

a very dirty car

Sounds like you have enough power in the alarm to set/disarm it but not enough for the central locking.
Disarm the alarm, manually open the car and charge the battery.
Whilst it is charging, solder your switch back on

SUPERB..... thanks guys.

Iain, I'll hopefully get to see you soon when i get these few bits and pieces done.. There has been a weird noise when i drive at any speeds since i jacked it up to change the gearbox oil.. might be that i didn't put the wheel arch lining back on properly? or maybe there is a wheel bearing gone after all. The weather has been rubbish and workload high so not got a chance to work on it yet.
