Help, immobilser not working
I suffered a flat battery on my Alfa 156 selespeed 2.0 TS 1999 model, so as i was running late for work, i quickly jump started it, but accidentally touched the jump leads on the battery the wrong way around and got big sparks, it was only for a fraction of a second, but now my immobiliser stays immobilised.
The central locking also stopped working, but after disconnecting the battery overnight and reconnecting it, this bit now works with the key fob remote, and with the key in the door, and the alarm works properly as well now, but the immobiliser still stays immobilised, I have the key code card and can over ride it with the accelerator pedal and start it, which is what i have been doing for the last few weeks, but its time consuming to enter the code each time as it takes about a minute to do.
I have checked the aerial connection for the immobiliser around the ignition switch, buzzed it out with a multimeter and its fine, and cleaned up the connector contacts on the white connector on the other end of the aerial (which is almost impossible to get to !)
But i am now stuck, is there a hidden fuse or fusible link somewhere that i might have blown when i jump started it backwards ?, or is there any other suggestions that i can try ?
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, i'm ready to try anything to get it working now !.
the car runs perfectly in every respect except for this, but I now cant drive it because the MOT has run out and i cant get it MOT'd if it cant start off the key readily i've been told my my local MOT place, and my tax runs out at the month, so i'm getting a bit desperate now !
