Battery & fuel cap

Got 2 newbie problems with my 156.

The battery has gone flat, I've already got car battery charger and suitable extension cord is on its way; now, my issue is that the "+" and "-" ends on the batttery are unmarked (please see the enclosed photo) and I'd be grateful for advice which one is which.

The other problem is the inner fuel cap (the plastic bit as shown on the other photo); I simply don't know how to release it and my car needs refuelling . I could maybe do it forcibly but want to avoid breaking anything.

In your picture, the top terminal with the fuses attached and with the red band on the cable is the positive terminal.

Sorry I can't help with the fuel filler problem.
