my 2002 147 airbag light has been on for ages so thought would do something about it. Looking thru old posts, many suggest cutting out the connector blocks and hard wiring instead - do i need to disconnect battery to do this? do I need a reset tool to reset the light after doing this or (if this is the problem) will the light magically go out?? any assisstance is greatly appreciated.
How long is a piece of string?
If you hard wire the front passenger seat and the problem is not cured then what, the drivers seat, the 1st stage head curtain airbag on the drivers side, passenger side?
I had an annoying airbag light that took nothing more than disconnecting and reconnecting the relevant connector and clearing the stored faults with alfadiag.
Alfadiag will narrow down your search and give an indication of the fault making your life a little easier.
If it helps, all airbag connectors are yellow, 1 under each front seat, two in the boot - look for the flap behind the rear lights, it's access for changing the bulbs - inside these flaps, one each side are yellow connectors for the curtain airbags.
Please ensure you have the ignition off when you dis and re connect the plugs, some say it doesn't make a difference but why not be over careful.
Things like this though is when AlfaDiag pays for itself.
I hope this helps, however i'm not sure that this will clear the airbag light even if you have solved the problem - it might need resetting with AlfaDiag but i'm betting there is a decent member not a million miles from you that maybe able to help you out there.
