Low power under 2500rpm..
Hello, first of all i did have a look around the forum to see if i could find someone with the same problem, but i wasn't satisfied at the end and wish for some more direct answers.
I am having trouble with the car being low on power under around 2500rpm, this happened literally over night, the day before the car was driving perfectly fine and the next day when i started the car to go to work, it started juddering slightly and when i touched the throttle pedal the engine almost stalled and gave a horrible coughing sound. After 5 minutes of idle it became quite smoother and hovered at the usual 800rpm but as i pulled out of the car park i noticed that whenever i put my foot all the way down not much would happen, until it gets to 3000rpm and then a surge of power kicks in and shoots you forward.
Now, i have tried several things already. I unplugged the MAF meter, idle wasn't stable and when i touched the pedal the engine almost died, didn't rev. I've just bought a contact cleaner to clean all the electrical connections and bought a fuel injector cleaner too. I will try these tomorrow and see what happens.
I'm really eager to find the problem myself by process of elimination, so i'm starting with the cheapest fixes first.
Could it also be a clogged fuel filter by the way? Car feels like it lacking something when i put my foot down.. But i will have a very good look around on friday.
Any ideas would be deeply appreciated guys, you have always helped me here and after i find out what's the problem i'll post a thread about how i fixed it. Cheers.
