Twinspark engine failure

Just a quick question. If the timing belt fails on a twin spark engine does it generally bend valves or damage other internals? Has anyone here pulled one apart. Then as a rule are the engines just scrapped and replaced? or repaired.

The answer is yes to all but scrapping the engine, only on rare occasions are they damaged beyond repair, but yes it does normally require replacement of the 16 valves and big end shells, not a job for an amateur on a twinny though I'm afraid.

If you try a search you'll see numerous posts about this, but if the service is valid and stamped up then Alfa will pay towards part of the repair if it's done at a dealers.
