We already have a 156 SW and no longer need 2 estates so am looking for something smaller and sportier than the Volvo.
I should have seen/could have known that...
The 156 ts SW is a touch thirsty for my needs but I understand that the JTS engine is more economical.
Not in my experience - heavy footed perhaps?
I managed an average of 9.3l/100km in the ole 156 over 100K miles, I struggle to get below 10.4l/100 km in the new one - it could just be that it's not quite settled yet as it's only done 6500 km so far...
The new one uses less oil though... So far, I've only had to add a liter.
I was wondering what people's experiences were with these cars; how reliable they are and which one is better to live with. (Also, and perhaps rather childishly, which would win in a race!)
My 156 was extremely reliable and spent less time at the dealer's than any of the previous cars owned (Opel Kadett, VW Golf, Peugeot 305, audi 100, mondeo, audi A4, Volvo V40, ...). The GT was chosen because after the 156:
nothing in the price range quite drives like it
nothing gives the smiles/gallon
the 156 had been so reliable
As far as winning the race, it all depends on how fast you're willing to drive it.
