147 losing power

hi everyone,

i have an 02 147 1.6TS Lusso which recently has started playing up a bit. it seems it is losing power at lower revs. it tends to "chug" a bit and then kicks in with normal power after a few seconds. sometimes it almost feels as though something is slipping and then it eventually engages (this may be just the sensation i am feeling and not what is actually happening!)

any help would be greatly appreciated. i live in the lancashire area so if anyone is aware of any speacialists in the area i could take it to that would help!

thanks in advance!

sorry i forgot to mention, the "engine management system failure" warning has flashed up twice (not regularly). however, the engine did not cut out when this came up and cleared when i turned the engine off and restarted.

excuse my ignorance but what happens when it "misfires"??

Misfire is when the mixture is not ignited in cylinder by the spark plug but in the exhaust. It means there is no spark what can be caused by the plug or coil pack.

I would follow disco´s advice, check or have checked the spark plugs and coils and than MAF.
