Ive got a bit of a problem with my 2000 156. My nearside sill is a bit rusty and needs to be replaced. I know they are meant to be galvanised and not rust but the fact remains it is rusty and there is a hole so it needs replacing.
Ive looked in a few places that do replacement body panels but i havent found any that do sills yet. Wings, bonnets, bumpers but as yet no sills. Any help guys?
i contacted a few places that do car body panels on the net with no luck but havent tried the ones you mentioned. I did get a number from my local motorfactors so called them and they sent me the same pic you have posted up. They want £129.55 + VAT each so your not a million miles away.
Im thinking the same about finding decent metal to weld to at the lower lip. I should go and take more pics of the evil rot.
yeah, planning doing it all myself. Stripping it down, welding and painting. What could possibly go wrong??????
I've set my trousers on fire once or twice!
Is cutting a piece out of a scrap car an option? You'd need a fair amount of patience (or a 9" petrol grinder) to do it but you could then get the whole step plus inner sill and a bit of floorpan to trim back as necessary.
HPI clear. Ive had the car 3years+. Just ordered the panel from Alfa for £148.99. Hopefully get it tomorrow but im sure it will be Monday at the earliest. Im away with work to Germany next week so it will be next weekend until the fun really begins.
