147 Gearbox Trouble
Hi, wondering if anyone could offer some advice on the problem I'm having.
I had the gearbox replaced for free under warranty earlier this year for my 06 147 JTDM, this was just a couple of weeks before the warranty ran out.
I started to notice a "clunking" noise/feeling when changing into 4th which got progressively worse and made selecting 4th difficult, this was shortly after the warranty had ran out. I contacted the dealership who replaced the gearbox and was asked to bring it down so they could have a look, but was told that "theres no warranty on warranty".
After taking the car down I was told that a new gearbox would be required which would cost, however they may offer a discount as the gearbox was new. I've been offered a new gearbox for half price and some discounted labour, so the cost to me would be around £1000.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm a bit frustrated at being asked to pay that much when a new gearbox was just installed before the problem started. Should I accept the offer, would I be able to get this fixed for cheaper elsewhere?
Thanks for any help.
