Alfa 147 2.0 wont go over 3000RPM


My 147 wont go over 3000 Rpm i n any gear . Am i right that it in safty mode?
Was doing this from time to time for a while now all the time for last week , sMCSF light is on as well.

Yes, it's in limp mode. Could be a number of things. Easy to guess, but best to get it on a computer to find out what it is.

If your near me I'll plug it in and find out what's up, but yes it's in limp mode and it's probably the MAF, just unplug it and it may suddenly speed up again.

It's the plug on top of the plastic tube section of the air inlet duct.

Happened to me once when the battery was nearly dead. In the battery's dying breath the car started but caused it to go into limp mode. Left it ticking over for about 10 minutes, put a new battery in, cleared fault code and it's never done it since.
