I recently chopped in my 03 2.0 TS Selespeed which I'd owned since new.
Pics here: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/intro...-ar-owned.html (AR owned)
It had done 68000 miles and had been pretty good.
Only a few problems:
1, 6 months old ~ Cat collapsed and blocked exhaust ~ replaced under warranty. Initially alfa refused to do anything about the £350 towing charge. (it broke down on Christmas eve 100 miles from home at 21:00). 1 year later they called me up, apologised for the previous crummy attitude ("alfa wants to change and improve customer service"), sent me a cheque for the £350 and vouchers for £1500 off a new alfa!
2, Rear passenger side electric window sticky ~ wouldn't close ~ never fixed as hardly used.
3, Front turn signal lamps full of water ~ replaced once but left it after filled up again.
4, Splines on half shaft stripped ~ replaced
5, Power steering pipes corroded at first MOT ~ replaced
6, Drivers side windscreen wiper started wiping side window ~ wiper linkage broken ~ replaced
7, Front lower arm bush worn at 2nd MOT ~ replaced
8, Typical rattle on start up ~ Cam Variator wear problem ~ never repaired as not bothered by noise....it worked ok
9, Front discs knackered 3rd MOT ~ replaced
10, Drank oil like a fish.......er that drinks oil. Roughly 1ltr per 100 miles
other than the usual stuff, that was it.
Now I look at it, it was not as good as I'd originally thought.
But I loved it.
It was worth it.
