Disconnect battery for a min of 15 minutes - undo two allen bolts (5mm IIRC) & removed airbag - place safely away - then using 24mm socket loosen centre nut, wiggle wheel to break the 'seal' effect, then fully undo the 24mm nut

I remember my Brother referring to the wood inserts in a new Rover at a dealer as "Venerial wood".

There must have been several people hear what he said, and some were laughing.

I put a wooden wheel in my 156, I liked it so much. Think the wheels and gearknobs look great, but hate the "wood effect" plastic console, thats cheap n naff.

I got a wooden one from a facelift 156 from ebay Italy last year and put it on the 147 that I replaced the 156 with. The facelift wooden wheels werent available in this country as far as I know, but in Italy they you could have them on the 156 and the 147, still can on the 147 I think.

Wood has been used by all sorts of car manufacturers over the years, including for steering wheels. Alfa and Porsche arent "the only manufacturers" to use it for wheels
