I have a problem with the Selespeed not selecting 3rd, which i thought might be temperature related. However, i now think that it might be the pump, and would be grateful if someone could tell me if i'm on the right track.
Having driven the car (everything working fine) and then parking for, say 10 - 20 minutes (visiting the shops/bank etc), when i open the driver's door i can't hear the pump "priming" itself. Then it seems to have the non-selecting third gear problem, although every other gear is fine.
If the car is parked up for a longer period of time - i estimate an hour or more - then the pump does prime, and everything works fine. My conclusion is that the pump is not retaining the required pressure if used twice in quick succession ie. driving/short parking/driving.
The Selepeed oil seems fine, so it doesn't seem to be a leak. Is there a way to reset the pump via Alfadiag so that it comes on every time the driver's door is opened?
Does all of this sound right, or is there something i could be missing?
On a brighter note, the car had it's MOT this week (the first for me) and, at eight years young, the only thing required was a new headlight bulb! Thanks to Ally & Craig at Kirkhill for their excellent service, yet again.
