My rear NS electric window has also dropped on my 1998 156 saloon. I have removed the door card and it looks to me as though the cable has snapped, as the bottom part of the window loop(?) mechanism is hanging down. The whole thing seems very fiddly to work on. I'm guessing that I need to undo the three nuts that seem to be holding the motor in place, plus the two nuts that look like they are holding the straight metal riser bar. With the window pushed down, I can see a white plastic clip on the bottom of the glass - does this just grip or does it go through the glass? I'm wondering how to detach the metal riser / clip from the glass so that I can remove the mechanism. Any help appreciated!
Any comments on the cheapest place to get a new mechanism would also be welcome.
The rear OS is also in a poor state, although it does attempt to move, so I think the cable must be intact on that one and I'm hoping to get away with squirting some lubricant somewhere. Is there any point in the loop where the cable is visible?
Sorry for all the questions, but it's almost impossible to see between the door skins to work out how it all works.
