156 TS selespeed

I have a 156 TS selespeed, W reg, 70,000m,
Ive had it about 8 months now and recently in the mornings when starting from cold it shudders, jerks and spluts until third gear as if running out of petrol even though there is always plenty in.

This only happens when its started from cold and i have to really keep the revs very low till i hit third then its fine for the rest of the day.

Is it a fuel system prob? has any one had or seen this problem before?

My first thought was cold or blocked injectors, but i understand it could be the pump or any other part of the system.

can any one give me some pointers as its happening every single morning now, or if i leave it for a few hours and cools down

Mine did something like that. Is it ok if you're reeeeally gentle on the throttle?

Changing the MAF sorted mine. If you try this, get a genuine Bosch one - not an ebay cheapy!

Yeh mate its like im teasing it into 3rd gear really slow then in third shes fine, ive been told it might be the cold start enrichment device which makes sense now ive actually give it thought, but i sounds and feels a bit air bursty aswell so i cant hurt to change the MAF over hey!

Disconnect the MAF first, and see how she runs then... if the 'chugging' disappears, then MAF is dead.

check your spark plugs, they should be repalced every 60k miles

also there could be oil/water around them in the plug wells/holes
