I have a 156 1.8 veloce 2002 series 1 facelift with 2 back remote keys.
My remote keys, both of them, stopped working last Monday 3 August, if I press the button to lock and open the doors nothing happens, if I try to remotely open the boot, nothing happens. However , I can open and close the doors by putting turning the locks in the door handles.
Before the keys stopped working strange things happening, I had to hold the remote really close to car when I was remotely locking the doors and sometimes there was a delay before the car locked or sometimes the boot opened
. I thought the battery was running low so me being lazy - I started using my spare key which I hadn't used for about 2 years. Same issues with this keys - delayed locking etc.. and that stopped working on 3 August so i replaced the battery, bought from Maplins, and it stilled didn't work. had the batteries tested and they had enough power.
Anyway I spoke to the main dealer in Hitchin (I live in Bedford) and they told me I needed to have the keys re-programmed. I made trip to the dealer and they re-programmed both keys and they worked, yippie! When I got home 25mins later I locked the car remotely and opened the car remotely, then AAAHHHHHHH
, both keys stopped working. So, back to Hitchin, the dealer reprogrammed one key and said the other key was faulty and I should buy a new key for £153.12 and then have that programmed. Anyway, I made my way home and, 25minutes later tried the key and it didnít work.
I contacted the dealer again and they suggested I should buy 2 new keys, what a surprise!!! The dealer did confirm that the alarm receiver was working fine and all fuses were ok.
So, can anybody give me some pointers please, your help would really be appreciated.
