Newbie/clutch/oil/VDC/rattling steering wheel
I've had my 147 JTD 16V for a few months and am generally very pleased with it. The clutch works perfectly, but there is a sort of notchy feel to the pedal half way through its travel, which is accompanied by a squeek. Alfa Tecnico reduced the squeek a little, but the notchiness persists. Doesn't inspire confidence in the clutch lasting too long. Any ideas?
Cambelt: The first thing I did after buying the car was to get Alfa Tecnico to change the belt/rollers etc and waterpump even though the belt had only been changed 18 months earlier, because the Alfa main dealer that did it at the time didn't change the waterpump. Being scared by the sticky 'pump/belt failure' thread either cost me £300 or saved me £1000+ depending on your point of view. Thanks. I think.
Oil: Stuff Selenia - I've just filled up with Shell Helix Ultra 5W/40 fully synthetic because I was offered it at a reasonable price and I'd swear that the engine sounds quieter!
VDC: Occasionally the dash tells me that the car has VDC failure, but it always goes away when I restart. I'm told this is probably nothing to worry about and could be the battery?
Rattling steering wheel: when I turn from lock to lock the steering wheel rattles. The stereo controls work perfectly and the rattle sounds like it's coming from further back in the wheel - could it be the airbag? should I be worried? Can't see that anyone else has mentioned a steering wheel rattle on this forum.
Any help/observations appreciated.
