Hmmm 2 air sucking apertures on the inlet manifold (1.6 147)

Hello everyone,

car: alfa 147 1.6 TS Lusso 01 reg

Yesterday I've left my car for cambelt/variator/waterpump service in my local garage - 2 hours later they call to inform that there's a possibility (not a definite one ) that I've got a part missing from the back of the engine (top of the inlet manifold) as there are two air sucking holes (appx 1cm in diameter) with no parts attached to them...

Can anyone suggest what are they talking about - is it normal ???
