Another Timing belt failure!
Just had my timing belt go yesterday.
Motorway speeds, total loss of power, variety of warnings displayed.
RAC man spent over an hour with his laptop and diagnosed it as the low pressure fuel pump in the tank had failed.
Got the car (55 plate, reg Jan 06, 156, 1.9 JTD Mjet 16V, 70K miles) recovered to Mclennans in Loanhead who have diagnosed it as timing belt failure. He hasnt opened up the top end to survey damage and hasnt mentioned the water pump as yet.
The car has full service history from Alfa franchise (Arnold Clark, Edinburgh) but no mention of previous belt change.
I`ve only had it for a few months and was due to get it serviced shortly.
From reading the posts on here on this subject feel I may have grounds for a claim with regard the repair costs. What do others reckon?
Can anyone give me guidance as what to do next, I will speak with AC in Edinburgh tomorrow to find out full history (sneakily!) but am wondering wether I should get in touch with ARUK or anyone else for that matter?
Any useful advice greatly appreciated and when I find out the full circumstances will add this to the belt sticky.
Cheers from a ****ed off but still in love alfa owner,
