Hey mate. Yes you can get them at halfords. Don't know the code but they are the really tiny ones that have no base and plug into the little plastic holders. Which interior do you have. I have a late faced one one but I can't imagine the early interior is any harded to change. Took about 30mins total. I've included a link so you know what to look for. I know it says bmw but they are all the same.

BMW E12 M535i, JC racing diff, Gaz coilover, Powerflex.
Alfa 156 GTA, Q2, Super sprint, CF2, EQ, KW coilovers, Eibach rollbars, Powerflex.
Alfa Mito QV , BMC filter.

yep easy as pie to fit, just remove the centre console panel, by way of a few screws and you will need to remove the knobs for the heating (by way of gently pulling), once that is out i think there is 2 screws holding the 3 dials in place, simply remove them turn the whole pod round and replace the bulbs, id do all the bulbs while your there as it will save ding it again in the future, oh and they will be a few quid from any motor parts shop

I uploaded a couple of pics from when i swapped my dials, not sure if they are much help but gives you a idea what it looks like underneath

I recently changed a bulb in the speedo. They are type 286 capless push in bulbs and are readily available from eBay. I bought a pack of 10 for 1.75 plus75p postage. I assume they will be the same for your needs.
