kkl cable and related software

Hi guys,
it's some days I'm googling around and this is what I understood until now
KKL + kwp7.1 = ecu pre-obd2 (year <=2001 petrol, year <=2004 diesel). no .def files needed.
Looking through the forum, there are several posts explaining howto connect to ABS ecu and to AIRBAG ecu changing the K line pin and the ecu address.
QUESTION 1) Is it also possible to connect to the main ecu?

KKl+kwp200 = ecu obd2 compliant. def files needed.

Now, the practice.
I own a alfa romeo 147jtd born in 2001. I cannot connect with kwp71, always getting key bytes error.
I then tried with alfadiag demo and the communication is established, recognizing a EDC15C7.

Any suggestion?

you need either Unidiag with associated def files or alfadiag
