Just thought i would put up my little service experience i had last night, to share with you all, and to ask 1 question at the bottom.
This is what i did.
oil change (went with fully sinth 5-40, ready for the norwegian winter)
gear box drain and flush and new fully sinth oil
washed out sports air filter
removed and cleaned maff
checked cleaned spark plugs and all cables
checked batt voltage
window water top up
fresh rad water and antifreeze
bleed all 4 brakes with a 1 litre dot5.1 esp brake fluid (with a 1 man bleed kit)
Full ecu reset
changed tyres from back to front and vise versa
checked all brake pads, brake pipes from front to back
wheel bearings (play)
checked play on all suspention joints (as good as i could with my bear hands and strength)
checked seat belts
checked for any loose internal fittings
checked over outside of car and underneath for damage.
full inspection and tighten of equest bolts
window rear wiper change
checked all lights (inside and out)
full underbonnet check for any sighns of wear or rubbing of cables/hoses.
reset the internal service lights for another 20,000km
it took me 3.5 hours
this is what i discovered
front wheel bearing drivers side on its way out,
THATS IT !!!!!!!!!!!
not bad as its done 137000km now!!!
I wasent expecting any change in driving but i dicovered this.
the oil change has completely cleared the 5.500-7000revs change in engine tone, it now pulls smoothly up to the limiter
and the gears just sliiiiiiiiiiiide into place with the new oil
and the clutch is firm yet smooth as silk.
and i am guessing the maf cleaning has a BIG part to play in this smoothness of the motor
i cant believe what a difference its made
i am very, very, very happy
now as you will know on my other thread, my cam belt is all thats left (and the newly discovered wheel bearing) so they are next
and now my question.
does anybody have a link to a pdf Alfa Service sheet that i could print out, and tick the boxes of what i have done to keep with my cars service book, it would be appreciated if you could point me in the right direction?
I am proud of myself today
and the price of my self service....around 75pounds in your money.
and alfa wated 700pounds to do it in the garage!!!
thats a nice 90% saving
