I've had my second Alfa for a few months now, and I'm afraid to say its giving me a few headaches. Its a 2001 147 2.0 Selespeed.
I'm currently living in Europe and the 'problem' is, the weather is very hot at the minute which seems to be affecting something electrical in the car. When I leave it parked in direct sun and come back to it later, often it wont start or when it does start I get a 'selespeed failure' message and the car won't move into gear. My 'work around' for this has been to open the bonnet and let a bit of heat out. It then seems to work ok 5 mins later (coincidence?).
This was annoying at best, but yesterday it was particularly roasting, and my car decided to give the selespeed problem when I was sat at a red light. Not fun in a country where people love those horns!!!
I'm becoming more and more disgruntled with the car. I just want it to work. I'd love it if it could just be reliable!
I don't have much of a network out here, and garages are a nightmare... even the alfa dealers...
Any suggestions would be more than welcome. I'm coming close to trading the car in, which will be a real shame, even more so because I will lose $$$'s.
