Flasing glow-plug symbol

Turn ignition. Glow plug goes out. Start engine, all is well, then glow plug symbol flashes for approx 20 seconds. Still drives like a dream. Any idea why?

I've had this warning for nearly a year now. No problems with the car and the mechanic wasn't too bothered at last service.

yes they are purely to make very cold starting a little smoother.
They will still start fine without them, so not a big issue.
Some Diesels don't have glowplugs at all.

Mine's been flashing for 5 years; no problems when starting.

As they get a bit older they fail to quite carry the voltage and flash a 'fault'. As others have said..they can go on for years like this with no detriment. Our light sometimes stay on a bit, but goes out before long.

No worries
