HI mike yes the repair has held up i get one fault when its wet now but that is a lambda error, and those connectors are about to get soldered aswell.
But honestly this has made a massive difference the car has covered atleast 1500miles since done, and has honestly been a different car.
The way i did it was to pull the pins out of the connectors one by one and solder them together, if you leave the plastic grid in place you will always have a reference point.
IIR when on elearn the connector on the left has things like altenator, injectors, ect running through it, if you have a copy of elearn it has all the pinouts on it search for D4b.
Hope soldering helps i wish i would of done it a year ago, and not spent money on parts that didn't need to be brought.
