Fitted new engine to my 156 now engine managemt light stays on & misfires

About two weeks ago now my cam belt went on my alfa 156, 1.8ts, 52 plate, after lots of calls to garages and getting quoted silly prices, i then decided to buy a second hand engine from a scrap yard. Me and my brother fitted the engine and it runs, but, the engine management light stays on, there seems to be a slight misfire and when i get to 60mph she begins to fight with going above that speed, she missfires and will not go above, which is a huge problem when on a motorway. I have changed the spark plug and the thermostat whitch has sorted the temperature guage issues i had but the missifre is still there and the engine management light is still on.

Any hint, tips or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Diagnsotics will give you a better chance of fixing it.

could be anything, maf, cam sensor, perhaps jsut a 'clear all learned parameters' would cure it..... maybe ther eis a wire left off the 'purge valve' fitted under throttle body ....could be a loose earth wire...the list is endless....could be ht packs,
