I'm gonna jump in here. Over my few years of driving, I have in all honesty owned around 16 cars. Yes, some of them were complete crap (Mazda 323, Astra, Orion to name but 3 of them) and I have driven Audi, BMW and Volks. I have no complaints with Audi and Volks, lovely, lovely cars. BMW however!!!! 316i SE and 323 SE have all been bought around the 3k mark. All had fsh, but all were terrible. Suspension, electrics, poor interior build - quite a few things.
Now, I have also bought (previously) an AR 146 TS and the only thing I had to do to that car was the full service and cam change - not a spot of bother with it other than that and regular servicing. I was disappointed to sell it but needed funds at the time. My other half (the best bit of me) gave the go ahead 2 weeks ago for a 147 Lusso to be purchased. Honestly, at first I was a bit apprehensive driving the car because it felt 'alien' as I'd been driving a Seat recently but now, I don't think I'd have anything else again. I've fallen under the AR spell once more. They are great cars! You need to look after them, regularly check them and if that is beyond your realms of motoring, then I suggest a Ford or something that doesn't need too much but is pretty damn boring.
The lads at Top Gear are right, you aren't a true petrol head until you have owned an AR.
