Easier to access?!?
I can get the gearbox dipstick out without removing the battery or top turbo hose! Bit of a reach-around, but certainly not hard to get to...
Funnel + hose, I reckon there's no easier way!
I totally agree. Didnt have to do anything other than reach down and pull the dipstick out, think it very convenient there.
Apart from a few scratches on the arm, worked well today, except I only had a 5mm id hose that would fit in the dip stick hole, so it took ages to dribble down the 2 liters of mtf.
I used a very small funnel to, that fit in that small hose, thinking about I should have beefed out the hose to fit a big funnel and I wouldn't have stood there for 40 mins trickling a tiny bit at a time, could have filled the bigger funnel and left it, o well, live and learn.
My dipstick has a min and max mark on it, but doesn't say hot or cold. I've assumed cold, as was over max when I checked it before starting the fluid change today, or guess I could have just been way way too full if it's a hot measure.
I also found that I didn't need to take the under tray off the car - after I'd finished the change! The rear, lower drain plug was accessible with the tray on, wish I'd know before taking it off lol.
Does anyone e know if the rear lower drain plug does the box and diff? Ie just draining via the rear plug is ok, as the front drain is higher and not drain any extra, or are they seperate sections and both should be drained?
I only pulled the rear lower plug today, and got 2 litres plus a 1/4 tea cup of old fluid out, so assume that all fluid is drained by rear plug, so pointless pulling the front plug to if pulling the rear?
Thanks for everyone's help, having your input before heading in made it a lot easier, especially the dipstick, as likely would have ended up filling from below in a struggling mess or having to take out the tray and battery, or still looking for a fill point - many thanks!
