I had an embarrassing moment with my car after I put my foot down in 2nd (upto 6.5k-ish).
When further down the road I pulled into a feeder lane at the traffic lights it cut out. I tried to restart it, it would start on the starter motor but then struggle and eventually cut out (when I say eventually I mean 1/2 secs).
At this point I was a little bit embarrassed to say the least .......
Once the AA patrol man arrived and tried various theories (I was out of after trying a few basic things), he plugged in a OBD interface which through up a crankshaft sensor error and said that I would have to be towed back. (He said he would have to log another call to HQ for this (I presume because it was a AA subcontractor)
When the next AA man arrived he stated that he thought that the subcontractors diagnosis was incorrect. When he disconnected the intake pipe and got me to turn it over whilst holding my foot on the throttle and himself spraying carb cleaner in it started. After this he followed me for abit and all was OK.
He then plugged in his OBD interface to the car which then threw up a MAF error.
It runs fine now but bit slow at top end and really lumpy idle. Disconnected the MAf but no real difference.
Sorry for the long post but I didn't want to throw loads of money at it without being sure. I thought that it may have been possible that the timing had slipped a tooth ..... That probably sounds silly but hey.
