common problem, under the plastic covers below the windscreen there are a couple of drain holes, if they are blocked water builds up and overflows down the air intake for the heater, on the passenger side. The attached is for a 145, but the set up on a 156 is pretty much the same.

My 147 has been back to the dealers in Willenhall/Solihull 7 times in 6 months. First the unusable clutch problems were denied initially and then after persistence (and a decent service representative) a new clutch has been put in. Thats fine, but now I have a massive water leak problem. The car was in for a whole week to be sorted and I was told that it meant taking the dash out and all the seals checked behind it (big job). Apparently it could of been an air-con fluid problem but it wasn't.

Anyway, as I understand it they just applied some sort of 'hosepipe test' on it. I got the car back on Tuesday and it seemed in it last night and there was that familiar pongy pond water smell again. Checked under the matt and surprise, surprise it's totally wet through!!!????

I've now got an interim meeting with my fathers solicitor at lunchtime to see whether I can go heavy legal on this as it seems some people have had cars replaced. In truth I just want to quit being an Alfa owner as quickly and as painlessly as possible...It's been a sole destroying experience!

Look out for my full run down and report (including everything else thats gone wrong with the car) which is for the attention of Alfa HQ.
