More Selespeed Grief
Please can anyone out there read my letter and give any clues as to what’s wrong with my Sillyspeed Gearbox of my Alfa 156.
I had this car virtually given to me by a friend when the gearbox failed. I towed the car home, fitted a second hand Selespeed Pump, bled the system, and to my surprise restored traction to the vehicle. So much traction that I managed to drive the car to the MOT station and back with a pass certificate.
The problem I am having is there’s a red warning light on the dashboard flashing as well as an audible chime. The car also has a tendency to miss fourth gear at times and also go into neutral when on the move.
I contacted a local independent Alfa specialist and he thought that the gearbox needed recalibrating, however he was fully booked up withy work for the foreseeable future. However he gave me the numbers of a couple of other mechanics specialising in Alfa Romeo, but to date they have failed to ring me back.
If there is anyone out here who’s had the same trouble or who can point me in the direction of an Alfa specialist in the Merseyside area then I’d like to hear from you.
