156 2.5 V6 Aux Belt & Tensioner(s) Diagnosis
I desperately need to have a look at the auxillary belt and tensioners on my V6. I am still getting a scraping noise on load, say for example, pulling uphill in 6th gear at 50mph ? The noise is only present when the engine is accelerating, under load, not on idle, which makes this a really difficult problem to trace and diagnose!
The noise is exactly the same as you would hear when the power steering is on full lock, and held there, except I am getting this under acceleration! I did also notice that the aux belt did squeal on cold, Winter morning starts, but haven't heard it for months due to the warmer weather.
I can get a complete aux' belt and 3 piece tensioner kit from Jamie Porter for around £165 (think Shop4Parts wanted around the £200 mark), but obviously I don't want to throw a load of parts at the car, and find that this isn't the problem, although I am 90% sure that the problem lies with a tensioner somewhere, but as to which one, I have no idea. If anyone has any ideas or advice for diagnosing this, please help! I will be very grateful!
