Alfa 156 nightmare! could these cars get any worse?
Out of pure fustration thought id share my tail of woe! AlfaRomeo 156, 2L twin spark... revs drpping too low on driving when dipping the clutch, would cut out at times...and then when idling the revs would yo yo until they settled!
Changed two corroded spark plugs and air filter, no change, changed MAF sensor twice as on was cheap after market version........no change!
Finally gave up on what i could manage myself, booked it in to a Alfa garage... Thorobred cars in Laleham, they put it on their computer which showed no faults! they cleaned the throttle and bench body, cleaned ECU connections and reset engine parameters.... voila, NO CHANGE!. So where am i now?
Told by thorobred to now go to a main dealer mechanic with a possible list of what it may be! idle control valve, fault in throttle body, fault in ecu, software updates
Have to be honest, have owned Toyota MR2's previously with bullet proof engines which are pretty simple to work on, starting to rapidly fall out of love wih my Alfa!
Does anyone know a garage/mechanic capable of repairing my car that is close to Weybridge in Surrey? Or
Does anyone want to buy a very low mileage 156? bearing in mind the above though!
Have a great week
