Just joined this website as i found it very helpful
to understand my 156.
abit about my 156:
2001 - Y plate 1.8TS Veloce with redline trim.
the downfall is No FSH. however it had previous MOT and current MOT til November 2009 with 102,000 Miles on the clock.
Hustled the price from £1600 to £1100 from a car tradeshop who recieved the vehicle on part exchange and had yet taken it out or inpected the car.
As a standard procedure i will get a full service done for a peace of mind. Should i have anything else done? i.e. cambelt? (as the engine sound really sweet so not sure wether i should.)
The oil was VERY low when i bought the car so I call my personal mechanic would sed to use 10w40 semi synthetic and topped it up.
there is a slight squeek from the back suspensions when going over humps (my guy sed some WD40 should do the trick) but worse case scenario i will change springs.
Any advice about my (new to me) 156? also what does it mean when it says velocy with redline trim?
As i don't have a FSH i'm abit weary and just wanted some advice from fellow 156 owners.
The car is standard to the bone with no mods.. any recommened mods to give me extra umpf?
Also if i do end up getting the cam belt changed what other parts should i change at the same time(relavent to the cam belt/timing belt (are they the same thing)?
I feel to add a little spoiler for the extra handling, do i need the extra downforce?
K&N Air Filter Vs Full Induction kit?
Would i gain any extra BHP from a performance exhaust? (come on i'm sure someone out there has put one of these on .. did you feel any difference?
I find that up until 4000 Revs there's no Umpf but after that it sounds like it's super charged and picks up very quick.
any common problems i should know about apart from electrical windows problems. ?
all replies will be appreciated. me , My friends and family are all new to Alfa Romeo's ( and with the credit crunch i feel to stick by this italian breed for a long long time. But knowledge is only gained from experience and this the only place i feel i could find like minded people.
thank you for reading my post. Kind regards
