156 1.8 2000 starting trouble (cold)

I have looked at the other post but none seem to help , i parked my car yesterday and left for a few hours , when i tried to start it the engine fired but would not start but could hear it firing, i tried bump starting it and it managed to start, once the engine was warm it started easily , this morning i tried starting it and it took about 10 tries then managed to start , the redning light on the temprature guage comes on after about 25 seconds but the car runs ok, but im sure when the car gets cold its not going to want to start again, i have read other posts and can only find problems with warm starting, i have also reset the ecu as described in a previous post but made no difference, can anybody help.
any help given will be appreciated thanks guys .
