Alfa moment - Trip metre reset turns off dash lights

Bit of an Alfa moment when I filled the 147 up with petrol yesterday.
I started the engine and turned the lights on, then went to reset the trip metre. I pushed the button for a couple of seconds and the back lighting on the Rev Counter, Temperature and Fuel Gauge went out. The speedo back lights stayed on.

I turned my headlights off and back on and all the back lights worked. Tried again. Exactly the same thing.
3rd time lucky, and the trip metre reset normally.

Any one else had this? Is it even worth bothering to find a dodgy connection in the dash if it's not affecting anything else?

I can't immediately see how to access the wiring behind the dash, so if it's too difficult I'll live with it. Anyone know how to get to the relevant wiring?

It's most likely you were pressing on the arrow down button, exactly below the KM button.
It's a feature which is meant for driving at night to reduce the interior glow and improve driver's visibilitywhen it's dark.
