2.0 16v has no pull pulling away!
How are you all?
I havent been on here for a while, ended up getting one of these below, and the poor alfa ended sitting on the drive unused.
Anyway, i missed driving it, so jump started it, charging the battery, and will try to get it mot'd this saturday.
There was something that i found that i had forgotten about though.
It is slow pulling away. When pulling away, the revs drop easily, and it just feels very lacking when pulling away. It gets to higher revs with no problems (tested with a known good maf), and have put on a spare lambda that i was told was working fine before removal.
Only thing i can see to be a problem:
Timing out? Belt was changed as soon as i got it, possible that timing is out. I have the blocks, so could spend a weekend taking apart, and putting together, but i would like to test properly, with a light (i just dont have the probe or knowledge!)
Other thing is that pulling away, it seems a bit noisy - at first i thought it was the exhaust. i spent many weekends taking the exhaust in parts, and filling all joints with exhaust paste, and resealing. i think the exhaust is now sealed, though not 100% sure. i noticed that my car had a stainless steel aftermarket exhaust + cat.
Poking around, i did notice that the airbox is not sealed - the top is cracked open a little, where the brittle plastic has broken.
By the way, it is a 2.0TS, with 71,000 miles on the clock. Has had new spark plugs, cam belt and variator. Also, no errors get thrown up in Alfadiag
Do you guys think any of these issues can cause the car to be lacking torque? I was in my cousin's 156 2.0, and his seemed to be much smoother and torquier pulling away, and even, when in gear, his seemed to push you into the seat when acclerating, mine doesnt seem to
Cheers in advance!
