Hmm, uh oh, Darren156 has arrived and brought his very own soap box, so here goes,
Why everyone decides to jump on the Team Autolusso bandwagon whenever some poor sod has a gripe with them is beyond me. I myself have purchased something from them in the past and be very pleased with the result, HOWEVER, this guy wasn't, so should be able to say what he feels regarding the ALFA ROMEO door he wanted to buy for his ALFA ROMEO on the ALFA OWNER forum,
Here is a guy, that has contacted Autolusso asking if they have an EXCELLENT condition door for his car, they have said yes they do have several excellent condition doors for his car, he has then gone down there to be greeted with a load of old sh**ty doors that he has to sift through himself,
It sounds awful, no wonder he is annoyed, I would be too.
And for Ned to turn around and say 'What you expecting of a 10 year old door?' is a ridiculous stance to take on the matter. He asked if it was in excellent condition with any marks etc, they said they have several excellent unmarked doors, he goes down and is met with dross.
In my opinion, if you can buy a second hand 1967 Ford Mustang in mint condition, then you should be able to buy a 10 year old silver 156 door in mint condition.
I have owned THREE silver 156's, all of which were in near enough mint condition, all of which were 9+ years old, and as far as I can recall the doors were all spotless.
Not on in my book,
HOWEVER, he did get a free Alfa badge... Worth the trip? Maybe not, but at least he got something for 'nothing'.
Darren - you make your points very well.
My Alfa is 9 years old and is in mint condition apart from this very slight crease at the bottom of the door i want to replace. I have also seen many 9 year old alfas with mint condition doors......and that is all I wanted from Autolusso.
I think Ned, your last post has let yourself and your company down.......'what do i expect from a 10 year old door? - answer - one that is in the same condition as my other 3 doors.......and if you didnt have one........all i would have expected would have been an email to say sorry mate, all our doors have scratches in that are more than surface, and they wont buff out......and the rest are either with dings, or rusty.
The question as to whether the colour would match or not, was the risk i was willing to take for £35....
Instead it cost me a days holiday from work, and 250 miles worth of fuel. Yes i enjoy driving my Alfa - alot - but i dont enjoy wasting my time and petrol when i think it could have been avoided with some honesty.
This is an open forum, and one in which this kind of discussion is the perfect arena to take place.
Customer service goes a long way........and I distinctly saw a lack of it
Ned your comment: 'I was not there on that day and my staff do a great job, I don't really know what you want or expect from us'....
I would suggest that, any new customer, maybe your staff actually take the time to come down from the upstairs office to greet a new customer, maybe (am in old fashioned?) shake their hand.......maybe wander over to the customers car, talk to the customer, open discussion, etc etc...........thats called making the customer feel wanted. Is that too much to ask?
Ok, so i only wanted a £35 door, ..........but I also need the cambelt done, which i would most likely have got done with a service, - that could all have been discussed.......but in all honesty there was no interest from Autolusso side.
What does anyone else think?
