Oh my gawd, why is this turning into another 'Autolusso thread'?
A guy corresponds with a spare parts supplier regarding a replacement door for his car. Assuming he has been quite clear in what he is requesting (ie door that is not scratched, not dinged and with no rust), he then travels to the supplier to pick up the door. He gets there to find that all the doors they have are suffering from at least one of the above defects. He has a right to be a bit miffed. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one man's 'good nick' is another man's 'not good enough', but assuming the customer has been quite explicit, he has been let down.
And no, it is not unreasonable to try to find such a door, even on a car of that age. I was in exactly the same position with my old TS a couple of years ago and I was let down by a supplier who sent me a damaged door and then tried to blame the courier - I had to get a refund via the courier, unfair on them, as I was pretty sure the door was already damaged. Anyway, the next time, I actually went to pick up the door (different supplier). The door was perfect this time - not 'as new', infact such a door would look wrong on a car of a certain age of course. But just one without dings, scratches and rust. Since the car was the same age as mine, the Alfa Rosso was even a perfect match, better than a new door with a respray! At the end of the day, you want a door that matches your car, if you have looked after the car, you want one that has been looked after but looks the same age as the rest of the car.
Anyway, I digress - as a goodwill gesture though, in this case the supplier offers another part for free - that goes a long way in my book.
On an open forum, the customer is entirely entitled to describe his experience, so long as he is honest and describes the experience fully. First experience doesn't come into it. One would also hope of course, that said customer would equally describe his experience if it had been a good one!
The OP has been edited now, so I don't know about the reference to the lad - if he was derided and was blameless, that's out of order.
But why oh why is this turning into another for Autolusso, against Autolusso thread?
