The 156 V6 is a fast car and should feel like one. 0 to 60 in 7.3 secs is quick for a family saloon! But the car needs to be looked after to feel like this. Forget mods and look at servicing - specifically the air filter, plugs and exhaust. All these things need to be right to achieve the factory spec performance. With everything sorted and the revs kept around 5K the car should really fly. It's a high performance car and needs looking after. Very few cars have ever out performed my 156 V6 and the ones that did cost massive amounts of money....
I totally agree with PhilzAlfa. It's a high performance car and needs looking after. Giving its design and style, its performance is something to outperform the most of the gti, type r, tsi kinda cars any day. Not to mention it is 1320 kg. for a v6, but still goes like a bullet.
With my 1998 2.5 v6, I do not even change my regular air filter to performance filter just to keep my flowmeter in good shape. The only mod, I might think of is to replace the plugs with iridium ones and change your exhaust rear silencer to a direct system only if it needs replacing. Otherwise..just keep it.
