I recently bought my first Alfa, so that's nice!
She's just under 9 years old and covered 109k miles. I recently took her on a 400 mile round trip from Kent to Leeds and back and she seems fine, no warning lights, no wobbles or strange noises. As I am an Alfa newbie, I have nothing to compare her against, so I couldn't say if her handling or general performance is as to be expected.
Here's some background from the receipts I got from the last owner -
She has a full service history, the last one done at 82K (Jan 2006).
The Cam belt was replaced, along with the tensioner and idler pulley at 71K (2005).
Lambda probe replaced– 09/12/08
Rear exhaust replaced – 19/08/2008
New air intake – 16/06/2008
Front shocks, drop links and N/S wishbone arm replaced - 14/05/2008
New clutch and radiator in 2006
Oil last replaced at 103K miles ( it was low when I first got her home, so I've topped her up and will continue to check regularly)
She was remapped by Autodelta in June of last year.
I guess I should put her in for the 108K service and get the cambelt replaced. There is an Alfa service dealer near me (5 minutes down the road) - Amcasters in Welling, but I'm leaning toward going to a proper Alfa specialist who could take her for a spin, have a good look round and advise me on what needs doing.
I'm thinking either Veloces, AutoLusso or The Alfa Workshop (all treks for me, so not convenient in that respect).
Body work wise, there are some small scratches and stone chips and a small dent in the underside of the off-side rear bumper. Both side skirts have gaps in them near the front doors - that is, they are coming away from the body. Hopefully, whoever services her can fix the skirts at the same time (cost permitting, I don't have bundles of spare cash). As long as I get a clean bill of health on her mechanically wise, I'll get her resprayed next year.
Oh, one other thing - I'm not sure what spec she is. The reg document just states 156 2.5 v6. She has 16 in tele-dials, side skirts, full leather trim (embossed), carbon dash etc. 6 speed manual box.
Any tips or general advice would come in very handy, and I'll try and get some piccies up soon.
