156 probs?

hi to all
theer is a couple of probs that i am having at the mo, first when you start the car it revs to 1500 rpm for a few seconds and then you here a loud click from the left hand side of the engine and then revs drop down to normal, i have just changed the idle motor does this have anything to do with it.
the second prob is when you hard acelerate it reves to about 4000 rpm and then just flat spots and wont go no faster, does not do it every time (it did this before the idel motor was changed) any idears would be cool, cheers

The loud click sounds like the air con compressor clutch.

When you say left hand side do you mean as you look at the engine from the front or when you sit inside and start it? Hi idle and flat engine could be signs of a dodgy MAF sensor

is not the air con compressor, more of a metalic click and its as you stand in front of the bonnet faceing the engine, thanks for info so far

Don't know what the answer is Trevor.......but I did tell you I didn't think it was the idle motor that was the problem.......only thing I can think of on the "left-hand" side of the engine - ie cambelt end, is the variator actuator valve...but that shouldn't be operating until about 3000 revs.

The running issue does sound like MAF.
