Thanks chaps, went out to the garage tonight about 9pm and took the end plate off the inner CV joint. The end cap to the CV joint is like a close fitting jam jar lid without the screw and it is simply knocked off carefully with a drift and a hammer.
This info came courtesy of Gazza82 - thanks!
Thereafter, you remove a circlip under all the black CV grease and slide the CV off the splined shaft, making it a very easy job to fit the gaiter and put it back together. Loctite was used - ta! [I was so pleased with myself,I almost forgot to put in the new grease!!]
Anyway, I now have another problem!!!
I refitted the driveshaft no issues, then I removed and replaced the upper wishbone, again, no issues, ..............but
What a pig of a job it was to try and get the new lower wishbone onto the car!! Maybe it is not a one man job, however, I struggled and eventually got one bolt in [out of the 4 that should secure it to the car], then I fitted the long bolt through the lower shock fork, the bottom ball joint and the top ball joint, all just finger tight....I then thought that using a trolley jack and brute force might line up the other three bolts but no joy!! Its as if the bottom wishbone needs to be lifted up at the wheel end to get the two bush brackets to line up, but no matter what I tried, it would not work!!!
Is ther a particular sequence of connecting it all up again? All of the threads I have read say, refitting is simply a reversal of the removal...or words to that effect!!!
What is the secret?
