156 overheating - Why???
I have had my darling Alfa 156 1.8ts veloce now for 3 years and not had a single problem but a few months back i noticed that when I put the air con on the temp went to about 110 degrees everytime!
Week later the cambelt went after having it replaced, the car started mis firing like crazy which was due to the timings, that was then fixed, THEN! 4 days later the tensioner bust so again got that fixed and now the car is overheating.
It overheats more when i put the aircon on, so dont use it anymore but even with a/c off it reaches upto 100-110 degress everytime. The garage that did all my work assures me its due to an airlock in the system but when they tried bleeding it one of them snapped the little screw that u undo to bleed it! i have been bleeding it for last 4 days old fashioned way taking the cap off and revving the engine a bit to get the air out.
My knowledge of cars is VERY limited but I dont believe its due to an airlock, theres no leaks to the air pump or rad and both fans kick in but i still dont feel confident in what they are saying.
Anyone got any ideas?
Worth mentioning that when i turn the heating on full blast the temp regulates lovely to 90 degrees and the engine purrs like a kitten but given the current climate this isn't very practical
