Well, I found the slave. I found in another thread that the 156JTD slave cyclider is under the battery, so assumed it would be in the same place.
Removed the battery and the plastic tray that sits in the bottom of the battery tray, and as if by magic there in plain view with easy access through one of the holes in the bottom of the tray was the slave cyclinder and bleed valve.
I was staggered - someone, incredibly, put some thought into it.
Sadly bleeding it had no effect. I bled it into a jar of pristine brake fluid, the missus pumping away on the pedal, me keeping the reservoir topped up. The colour of the fluid that came out was disgusting. However, all the air was out, did see a fair bit of air bubbling through in the jar when first pumping.
Put it all back together and it was worse than before - couldn't get any gears. Pumped the pedal repeatedly and managed to get it back where it was before... it's now down at my Indie.
Keep you posted
All the best
