156 2.0ts cooling issue
A while ago I posted a thread about a mates 156 and the fan cutting in soon after a cold start.
I, like others presumed it was to do with the aircon being on auto.
Anyway, it isn't, and the problem in the warm weather has become worse, over heating quite often.
So, I'm looking for a bit of help, this is what's happening.
From cold, runs for 3-5 minutes and the fan kicks in, temp gauge climbs steadily to 85-90, I'd say a normal warm up, but it must be heating up quick as the fans running.
Now in the hotter weather, the fan's not coping in slow traffic and the temp gauge hits the red.
I was thinking along the lines of the thermostat stuck shut, but where does the fan get it's info to turn on and off? if it's shut and the rads cold, it wouldn't kick the fan in if it had a switch in the rad.
Does it pick up the signal for the fan from somewhere else, ie, before the coolant hits the thermostat? If it does, where is it on the 2.0ts?
