Hmmm Someone just scraped my 147!!

Had my lovely shiney black 147 for three weeks now so I guess it was due.

Stationary in traffic when the car behind changed lanes and scraped OSR corner.

Bumper and wheelarch damage mostly.

My question is - if the repair is done properly, how should it hold up in terms of rust resistance bearing in mind it is a wheelarch - not just any wheelarch... an Alfa Romeo wheelarch?

Thanks for any wise (or other) words.

Sorry to hear it - what's different about an Alfa wheel arch?

A proper job is a proper job & shouldn't give you future problems

My concern is mainly that as the metal is galvanised, what sort of protection does any bare metal get (will it be as good)? and the 'Alfa wheelarch' comment is because if rust proofing is not adequate then Alfa metal seems more eager than most to start rusting.

It is galling that I bought a particularly straight car in terms of paintwork because my last Alfa got keyed really badly (or well if you see what i mean).

You'll find that Alfas rut less than other marques, the galvanised metal is the reason, The correct repair actually involves replacing the whole rear wing, which is at least 2K, so you'd better hope they don't write it off, and when it's repaired your 5 year corrosion warranty starts on that job so why worry?
