156 mass air flow sensor problems
Only had my Alfa 156 3 days when she died on me, there was a dead spot in the rev's around 1500 - 2500 when she was cold I could get her started no problems but once she had warmed up there was no chance off her starting again or she would cut out, At 1st I though must be a spark plug or coil as I was sure you could hear her miss fire... Anyway took her to a local gargage to get her diagnosed on the computer properly.
The diagnostic showed 2 faults Mixture control & Mass air flow sensor after checking the gargage found the air flow sensor faulty the replace this as well as all the spark plugs and clean the coils as the were a little corroded, at 1st the air flow meter they fitted didnt do the job but then they upgraded to a higher quality one and this has worked. WHen you rev her she now has no dead spot when stationary.
However after leaving the garage this doesn't seem to have solved my problems every now and then when driving I seem to be getting a dead spot It only ever happens when I'm in low rev's like when in traffic or pulling off, theres just a dead spot in 1st or 2nd gear around the 1500-2000 rpm range.
Does anyone have any ideas?
What could be causing this?
Is it a fuel supply issue?
Oh its worth mentioning that the air flow senosr they used is a brand x one and not an Alfa one does this matter?
Anyway guys all your input will be really appreciated it would be good if I could go back to the garage with some info at least!
