Help Identifying That Noise!
Hi everyone, thanks for reading.
Bella developed a new, worrying noise yesterday, a knocking/tapping sound.
My first thought was great, the engine is knocking, Bella has had it...... However after driving around i don't believe the noise is engine related.
The noise sounds like a knocking/tapping and it appears to be coming from under the floor plate rather than the front of the car. The knocking can sometimes be felt through either the steering wheel, the pedals or the gear stick. The knocking is irregular and most noticeable in first and second gear, when traveling at under 2,000rpm, mainly rush hour traffic. Above 2,000 RPM the noise seems to disappear.
When revving the engine at a stand still, in neutral and the hand break on there's no noise.I have not suffered any loss of power or MPG
I have only driven the car once from cold since the car has developed this problem but it seemed that the problem didn't occur until the engine and warmed up fully. I will have to try and work out if this is the case further when i go out later.
The car is a 2003 147 2.0L Lusso with 63,000 miles on the clock.
Unfortunately i have no money what-so-ever to fix any problems for at least 6 weeks as i'm going to America for a month on the 22nd, but any ideas of the problem will be appreciated so i know where i stand.
